The Brotherhood of the Empire of the Holy Spirit of Rua Nova, located in Angra do Heroísmo, is a historic building constructed in 1799 and rebuilt after the earthquake of 1980. It celebrates the Feast of the Holy Spirit on the Sunday before the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It has an Administrative Board, a Fiscal Council, a General Assembly, and a Festival Committee. After a tragic accident in the 1990s, it has primarily focused on religious activities such as changing the crown, praying the rosary, and celebrating solemn masses.
