The Império do Divino Espírito Santo do Outeiro, is located in the parish of Agualva, municipality of Praia da Vitória, located in Lugar do Outeiro.
This is a property of very recent construction, which had the support of the Municipality of Praia da Vitória, the Parish Council of Agualva, many emigrants and funds raised from the population.
The inauguration of this empire took place on the 22nd of May 2005. This brotherhood holds its feast, the “Bodo dos Outeiros”, on the Sunday after the feast of Trindade, which is very similar to those that take place in the other empire of the parish, that is, the procession of the Holy Spirit takes place to the parish church, where the solemn coronation mass is celebrated.
At the end of this liturgical act, the procession for the empire follows, and bread and wine are distributed among the people present. Then, the so-called “Função do Espírito Santo” takes place, in which the traditional soups of the Holy Spirit, stew, rump, wine and juice are served to all guests.
The meal ends with the so-called sweet rice. The only difference between this celebration of the cult of the Divine and the others is that, that week, the insignia of the Holy Spirit remain in the Empire, where the rosary is recited by the devotees.
In the afternoon, you can sometimes see, next to this empire, some cars with awnings, the so-called “carros do bodo”. In the camp, the people present coexist and snack to the sound of the philharmonic concerts.
On this day, the empire and the pantry are open for people to pay their promises to the Divine Holy Spirit, which generally consist of offering money or items that are then sold.
Many of the alms are made with the traditional alfenim. At the end of the feast, the portfolios are removed and the butlers appointed for the following year.
