The Império do Espírito Santo dos Marítimos, is located in the parish of Santa Cruz, municipality of Praia da Vitória, located in Largo José Silvestre Ribeiro, where the Hermitage of São Pedro Gonçalves once was.
Its construction dates back to the last quarter of the 19th century, to the year 1877.
This brotherhood celebrates the feast in honor of the Divine Holy Spirit on the so-called Trinity Sunday.
The Maritime Empire contains images and is shaped like a chapel. Due to the small number of brothers and the current difficulties, this brotherhood has not been able to carry out cultural activities during the week.
However, on Trinity Sunday, the procession of the Divine Holy Spirit takes place, accompanied by a philharmonic to the Church, where a festive mass is celebrated, at the end of which the coronations take place. On this day, the portfolios are removed and the commission for the following year is appointed.
As part of the feast of this empire, the following Saturday, a rope bullfight is held.
