The Império do Espírito Santo do Pico da Urze, is located in the parish of São Pedro, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, located in Largo Professor Tomás de Borba.
It is a century-old property, founded in the last quarter of the 19th century in 1885. This brotherhood celebrates its feast of the Holy Spirit on the sixth Sunday after Easter. In this empire, as in all others, the number and variety of activities that make up your festive program depends on the budget available for their realization. For this reason, the annual programs of this festival can be richer in one year and poorer in others.
The feast of the Divine Holy Spirit of Pico da Urze begins with the change of the crown on the previous Sunday afternoon to the Empire. During the week, the following activities generally take place: praying the rosary at the end of each day, distribution of meat, mass for the souls of deceased brothers and sisters in the parish church, performances by various musical groups.
On the day of the festival, the people of this place gather together with the Empire and then follow in a procession, accompanied by a philharmonic, to the Chapel of the Youth Centre, where a festive coronation mass is celebrated. In the evening, the portfolios are extracted and the Commission is appointed for next year. The following day, Monday, whenever possible, it is customary to hold a rope bullfight.
