The Vale Fundo Lagoon is the only one of the three that holds water all year round, serving as a reference point for migratory birds.
These lagoons are integrated into the pedestrian route of the Mistérios Negros, located in the Natural Reserve of Serra de Santa Bárbara and Mistérios Negros of the Terceira Natural Park.
