The Império of the Holy Spirit of Quatro Ribeiras is located in the parish of Quatro Ribeiras, municipality of Praia da Vitória, in the square of the local church. Founded in 1883 and reconstructed in 1985, it celebrates the worship of the Divine Holy Spirit on the eight Sundays following Easter, with particular emphasis on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays. On the Saturday before Pentecost Sunday, a procession of the Holy Spirit’s insignia takes place from the Emperor’s house to the church, followed by mass and the distribution of meat. On Sunday, there are further religious celebrations, followed by the distribution of bread and wine.
