The Império da Espírito Santo da Ribeira do Testo, also known as Império da Boca da Ribeira, is located in the parish of Porto Judeu, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, located in Largo da Boca da Ribeira.
It was built in 1933, although the statutes of its brotherhood are dated January 4, 1935.
This brotherhood covers half the population of the Caminho da Cidade area. It was subject to recovery works and improvements in the year 2000, and is currently considered one of the most spacious on Terceira Island.
This brotherhood has a procurator and an assistant with mandates of one year, designated by the brothers, and a butler for each bodo.
This Empire only celebrates the feasts of the Divine Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays.
On these Sundays, the days of the bodos, the processions of the Holy Spirit take place, accompanied by a philharmonic, to the Church on the way to the city, called the Church of the Savior of the World, where there is a festive coronation mass, which is followed by the procession for the Empire, where the bread is blessed and distributed by those present, followed by the traditional lunch/function.
In the afternoon, there is an arraial, with “food and drink”, massa sovada, wine, drained fava beans, lupins, etc. philharmonic concerts, bazaar, auctions and finally the butlers are appointed for the bodos of the following year.
