The Império of the Holy Spirit of Praça Velha is a centenary construction located at Largo Francisco Maria Brum, in the parish of Biscoitos, municipality of Praia da Vitória. Built in the late 3rd quarter of the 19th century, in 1872, this empire annually celebrates the Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays. The processions of the Holy Spirit take place on the festive Sundays, accompanied by a philharmonic orchestra, followed by a festive coronation mass in the church. After the celebration, the traditional blessing of bread and wine occurs, followed by the lunch offered by the emperors to the guests, called “função”.
